Video pitch in 30 seconds – errrr…brb.

Whether this is your first time doing a video pitch or you deliver them in your sleep, it important to have a plan. Before you go to Youtube and hit record, let’s get clear on a few things first. What will you say? More importantly, what will you leave out? There are lots of resources out there about effective pitching. Here are our top 3 tips to nail your video pitch.

Tip 1: Get to the heart of the need to know versus what is nice to know.

When you live and breathe your work or research it can be hard to think about communicating it in 30 seconds. Whilst being thorough is important, there is an art to being concise. How many words or seconds does it take to hook us in? If you find yourself rushing through your pitch, odds on you are trying to say too much.

Tip 2: Be clear on the why.

Who doesn’t love a reference to Simon Sinek’s TED Talk?! Our team is going to be asking ourselves why you, why now, why this idea, why should audiences be intrigued? It can be easy to identify the what, which is why we want to encourage you to get clear on the why.

Tip 3: Have fun – be creative – communicate authentic you!

Embrace everything that is you, your presenting style and your passion. Make us feel and believe beyond a doubt that your idea needs to be a part of TEDxParramatta 2018. Ultimately we are looking to provide a platform to ideas that will spark rippling discussions.

You have 30 seconds. Don’t overthink it. Be you.
Our team cannot wait to see your video pitch. So what are you waiting for? Head to the nominate page to find out more about how it works.
